Alcohol and Other Drugs Workgroup
The Alcohol and Other Drug Workgroup seeks to address the issue of substance use and abuse at the community-level. By implementing and supporting multiple strategies across multiple sectors of the community, residents in the Oxford-area will live healthier lives.

The workgroup has been focused on addressing prescription drug abuse across the lifespan. Through education, skill-building and the introduction of lockboxes in the community, our hope is to reduce access to prescription drugs in the community.
The Coalition seeks to convene the community on a regular basis to discuss issues related to substance abuse. Recently, the Coalition hosted a Town Hall Meeting on Opiate Abuse at Talawanda High School.
Law enforcement officials and McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital are committed to hosting regular Medication Take Back Days in the community. Residents are encouraged to bring expired or unused prescription and over the counter medications to be disposed of in a safe, environmentally friendly way. Miami University Police Department houses a permanent drop box for community members to use for disposal.
McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital developed this program in response to a community concern regarding the disposal of Sharps.
